On the Road -- Happy Holidays from BHTM
Posted by Jeff on Tuesday 25th of November 2008 06:04:48 PM.
Hey yo what up y'all.....
We are all lying pretty low right now... We are putting the finishing touches on a special Christmas present that will be available very soon in our merchandise store at our web site. We are doing fun "end of the year" things like inventory of gear and merchandise. We are making plans to road trip to Vail on DEC 11 to play their annual Snow Daze Winter Festival. We are also loading up the confetti cannons for our annual New Years' Eve show in Denver, this year to take place at the Ogden Theater. After we make an "end of the Holidays/Jeffs' Birthday" trip up and over the Continental Divide to Aspen for a two night engagement at the Belly Up, we will begin to load up the Bus and Trailer to head east to bang out a Winter 2009 trip. We hope to see you out there and don't forget the jawbreakers....

On the Road -- Carolina (and Virginia) on our minds...

Weekend of shows -- OCT 16-20
We had one of the earliest wake up calls ever for a flight out of Denver. My alarm was set for 3AM. We needed to be to the airport at 4:30AM for a 6AM flight eastbound. We always have to arrive 90 minutes before a flight, so we can be sure we get the whole band and crew, along with all of our guitars, etc checked in. This can be an involved process for some airline employees, and we never want to risk missing a flight. As I recall, we have only missed one flight in our history of "fly dates", a connection we missed due to a delay in the first leg. Good news was that we did NOT miss the gig!
So, we flew to Washington DC, where we connected to fly in to Raleigh, NC. We like the Carolinas. Beautiful area of the country, and folks are quite nice -- "We pree-chate chi-y'all stoppin bah" -- I gave it a shot.......
We headed over to the Lincoln Theater, a club we have not always held in the highest regard, but one that we have commented on as cleaning itself up as the years go by. The first time we played there, the word "dump" seemed apropos, but we have kicked them up to "decent" in recent visits. The place was not filled on this Thursday night, but as usual, the crowd had a "sell out" vibe. Very enthusiastic group out there on this evening. Since we flew without a merchandise person, we had a nice young gal named Morgan sell for us. She has our thanks for a job well done. Many of you know that we often hire people not associated with the band to sell for us when we are not on tour. Stop by and say Hello, and let them know how cool I am. Thanks.
After the show, we drove an hour and a half to Greensboro to our favorite hotel in North Carolina, the Sheraton Four Seasons. One of our biggest fans runs this wonderful hotel, and it was half way to our next destination.
We woke up in G'boro and drove to Charlotte for a private show. Nice and simple. Drove there, played, and then drove back to the hotel to spend our second night in G'boro. We spent most of the next day driving to Virginia beach. Nice drive. Stopped to eat at Cracker Barrel. Most of us had a late breakfast, and I got myself a jar of jawbreakers. Love them. Showed up in time to find a cool sports bar to watch football (CU Buffs), baseball (ALCS Game 7), and even a boxing match....
Sunday morning we were supposed to set up on the beach for a ALS benefit show, but it was too windy, so we moved to the Virginia Beach Convention Center. We did our thing at around 3:30PM, and by 6PM, we were back at our cool beachfront hotel with the rest of the evening off. We all met at the restaurant downstairs and had a birthday dinner for Todd. It was good to relax knowing the show was already over and our work done for the day.
Monday morning we flew home and now we have a few weeks off!
Thanks for being at the shows. And if you weren't at any of them, why?

On the Road -- Good Music, Great Lakes
Posted by Jeff on Thursday 28th of August 2008 02:39:40 PM.
Where have we been?
The band has been working all summer long, but since we have been doing a lot of flying and not a lot of touring on our bus, I have failed to keep up with the road blog I have become known for. Since we are fixin to jump on a bus on Friday, I will do my best to cover this trip as best I can, bringing you updates, anecdotes, and tales of our successes as we rock around the Great Lakes region of the country. Friday morning, we will fly from Denver to Milwaukee to begin the trip, with a show to help celebrate 105 years of chrome and noise at the Harley Davidson Anniversary gig. Wonder if anyone will have any Jack Daniels shots waiting for us!
See you this week....
Jeff
